A New Day

Last night, we let the kittens out of their room to explore the living room. Within moments, they were tearing around, jumping from one sofa to another. They were very entertaining. I ended the evening, asleep on the sofa with both kittens sprawled out and snoozing on my chest. Pure bliss!!

They've been hilarious today with lots of playing and napping. Their personalities are really showing. Henry is a bit of a talker. He chirps and chatters alot. Agnes is chirping, too, but mostly when she's running with great importance from room to room. She has a little rabbit hop in her step. Both are extremely affectionate and purr constantly. They ask to be picked up!

To prove that they're not just hanging about looking adorable, here is some evidence of their feistiness.

The Kitties Are Home!

Agnes did not enjoy the car ride very much, but I did my best to comfort her and her long, but tiny cries. Henry took it all in stride.

Once inside the house, it took only a few minutes for Henry to be in full-on action mode, playing with just about every toy in the room. Agnes, was reserved and toured the room several times. After about 20 minutes, she'd calmed down quite a bit. I picked her up and she started purring like mad.

It's been nothing but love, purrs and naps, since.. The first nap was on the back of the chair by the window sill.

Now, they're crashed out on the chair. Agnes is stretched out on the pillow I made for her.

Here she is in the middle of falling asleep.
(She is the sweetest little cat!!)

Henry is dreaming, his gorgeous toes twitching about.

(He is the sweetest slightly less little cat!)

I'll spare you the picture, but will note that my husband has joined the nap brigade and is asleep on the floor amid the toys. My sleepy little family is complete.

Only a Day Away

We're picking the kids up tomorrow at noon...!!

I'm feeling pretty emotional about it today. I've been thinking about old Tibet and feeling a little sadness. I miss him. I'm also out of my head in anticipation of the new fuzzy ones.

My need to nurture and love is strong, and I'm looking forward to the rewards of caring for some kittens in need of a good home. If there is one thing I am certain about, it's that Ian and I will do everything in our power to provide a happy and healthy life for Agnes and Henry.

Almost Home

The kids have been spayed and neutered and should be home with us at the end of the week. I hear that they were hard at work playing, instead of resting up from their surgeries.

I've gone a little nuts preparing for their arrival. We have cat beds, toys, things to scratch on, things to snuggle on, tunnels to run through, stainless steel food dishes, human grade canned food, pamphlets of information about cat nutrition, cat litter made from corn, and we've moved the the big chair in the front room by the window for maximum sunbathing and bird watching.

Our little Agnes loves sleeping on pillows, so I made one for her over the weekend and I've been making stacks of catnip toys out of super cute retro fabric. The kids are probably too little to enjoy the catnip, but when they're ready, it will be there.

This really feels like a new chapter and I'm ready to start the new adventure.
